    you know how i always idly threaten that if people do something bad i’ll torture them with an avalanche of unreadable critical theory?
    yeah, it will be taken from his writings. or his students who are even worse.

  2. I’m intrigued! My roomie and I were just carrying on about one of our profs, Briankle Change, who critiqued the whole field of communication. He implies that we could give equal attention to miscommunications, that they are just as informative as those communications which seem “to work.”
    What’s in Silverstein’s theory that strikes you as deadening?
