Hey hey, what do young (as in college-aged) folk have to say about who the next President should be? Wouldn’t it be grand if they really do turn out to vote, as the registration numbers indicate they might? ,a href=”http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/15/politics/campaign/15youth.html?th”>Vote Drives Gain Avid Attention of Youth in ’04.
(First time I’ve looked at the NYTimes since classes began last week!)
Kerry should come out in favor of lowering the drinking age to 18. I really think that would get 18-20 year olds (who aren’t voting currently) to the polls. Kerry would lose very few votes due to this position (most of the people opposed would already be voting for Bush) and has the potential to pick up a lot… which could be just enough in such a close race to win.
Not that I think this will happen of course 🙂
Glen Reynolds, of all people*, has a couple good links on the 21 year old drinking age issue.
* I have to say from time-to-time I appriciate Glen. .. when he talks about how his conservative/libertarian idiology clashes with republican/neocon policy it can get interesting and makes him appear less of a mouth piece.
oops, sorry.. here’s the link: http://instapundit.com/archives/017878.php
