Homophobic metonymy?

As I posted the previous link it occurred to me that our discussion in class last night might have been the microsocial acting out of the larger public debate now underway about gay marriage

  1. I am not sure if this could help to piece together the sequence of what happened: What I clearly remember, Steph, is your use of the term “dyke” when refering to yourself, which Donna picked up in her response that when she first met you, she never thought of you a dyke.
    I guess I remember this because the term is rarely heard to me and so that it sounds “fresh.”
