"They're bitchin'!"

Uh oh, these are getting shorter and shorter! Saw Sam for only half-an-hour today. I am zooming around preparing for a trip to a conference in DC.

One of the nurses, Mary Lung, fed Sam this morning. She usually does, but Sam explained his reason for telling me: ìI like Mary. She has a gifted vocabulary.î

Iíd brought him his favorite large cup of black Hazelnut coffee from Dunkin Donuts, which choked him up on first swallow: ìSee how you affect me?!!î After he recovered his breath, he said, in his laconic fashion, ìCoffeeís a little hot.î

Jennifer called him, sheíll be here over Thanksgiving. :-) Iím supposed to mail the Eden Park newsletter to you, Jennifer, because youíre the one who wrote the original letter to Senator Jeffords on Samís behalf. He showed off the letter he received back, which had a lot of verbage in it about HR7, ìThe Community Solutions Actî which ìwould expand tax incentives for charitable organizations, extend charitable choice rules to more federal program areasÖ.etc etc etc. It specified, ìthe Charitable Choice Act of 2001î, and included some critique of Rumsfeld.

There was one glaring memory issue today ñ first time that I really knew it was a memory glitch (not an aphasia/dysphasia one). Sam asked me, ìDid you see the back of my wheelchair?î He started to tell me what it said and I finished it for him; ìI put that one on, did you forget?î ìYou put it on?î ìI did.î

Besides that, all was as usual. There were 3 jokes, when I asked if he was ready for ëem? GRIN. ìHmm hmmm.î

The generic names for Viagra got smiles.
The example of a ìtragedyî according to GW Bush got a comment, ìI think thatís good.î
The hit of the day was from Jennifer, about two jewish women who decide a nephew canít get herpes because itís a disease that only afflicts gentiles, got an out loud laugh. :-)

Finally, Sam checked out my new shoes: ìI think theyíre bitchiní!î

Hopefully Iíll get to visit with Sam longer next week; more news and responses then! Yíall be well.

Ciao Sammy!
Glad you liked the jokes! I sent an envelope specifiying that Mary Lung (your nurse w/ the vast vocabulary and a great sense of humor) was the only one to read the contents to you and that
they were to be shared w/ Steph.

It's so cool to hear that Sam's had over 1000 hits to the blog! That's what Larry told me on the phone last Sunday. You go girl, you've done a great thing for Sam. Thanks so very much.

Yup, headed to "sunny" Vermont for Thanksgiving. Mom & I determined that the $1000 it costs for airline tickets alone at Christmas just couldn't be done this year. I got lucky and using the $200 voucher I got last Christmas for getting bumped on Delta, I only have to add $54 to get to Vermont and back!!! Can you friggin' belive it?? Mom wants us to both come to visit Sam in the Spring, when the tickets are more reasonable and, according to Mom, "..it isn't so freezing cold & it will be pretty and green." So I'll be travelin' solo in Nov.

Signing off for now, greetings to all, big hug to Sam. Love, Jennifer
